TFB Podcast Roundup 13: TFB Goes to Texas Edition

Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 13. Near the end of September as many of you who keep track of both the blog and the YouTube channel (we are also on BitChute) probably know, the TFB/TFBTV spent nearly a week in Southeast Texas running and gunning with a variety of firearms and optics from both ATN Corp and Crimson Trace. The entire crew had a great time and it is somewhat of a special event for us since we don’t often get to see each other in person save for a few times per year. This being the case, I took the opportunity to catch up with everyone and even had a chance to record a more laid-back podcast with Hop and Nick C. James Reeves and the crew also had the opportunity to speak with Lawrence Demonico, President and CEO of Rare Breed Triggers to talk about the situation regarding the FRT-15. I’ve included James’ interview with Lawrence down below as it fits neatly in with the trip but I’ll also be featuring a couple of other TFB contributors in this week’s roundup so you can hopefully get to know them a bit better. Happy listening everyone.

TFBTV – The FRT-15 Story: An Interview with Rare Breed’s President Lawrence Demonico

Length: 24 Minutes

Subjects: Rare Breed President and CEO Lawrence Demonico talk at length with TFBTV Producer James Reeves about the controversy surrounding the FRT-15 trigger.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves interviews Lawrence Demonico, the president of Rare Breed Triggers. Rare Breed Triggers manufactures the FRT-15 trigger, a “forced reset” trigger that permits an FRT-15 owner to shoot a semi-automatic AR-15 as fast as humanly possible while still fitting within the definition of a semi-automatic. However, Rare Breed Triggers has found itself in litigation with the BATFE over the trigger. Tonight, we talk with Lawrence Demonico about the FRT-15, Rare Breed’s struggles with the ATF, what’s happened so far, and what might happen in the future.

TFB B-Side Podcast: After Dark with Hop and Nick C

Length: 35 Minutes

Subjects: This was basically just an aimless conversation we had over a couple of beers late at night – I promise we talk about guns… mostly.

TFB Podcast Roundup 13: TFB Goes to Texas Edition

The TFB crew was recently able to have a nearly week-long meetup in Southeast Texas to do some work with a wide variety of products and cool guns. During the week, Hop of TFBTV and our resident night vision expert Nick C were able to do a very impromptu podcast about nothing in particular. However, we were actually able to take about 30 minutes to discuss a few of the experiences we had so far during our week-long trip to Texas and we also talked a bit about some pop culture happenings, some commercial technologies as well as our opinions on the Far Cry video game franchise. This “After-Dark” episode really is just a grab bag of topics and more like a late-night chat rather than a subject-focused podcast. Hope you all enjoyed and thanks again to Hop and Nick for the chat.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast Episode #32: AllOutdoor Managing Editor, TFB & OHUB Staff Writer Adam Scepaniak

Length: 19 Minutes

Subjects: AllOutoor Managing Editor and TFB Writer Adam Scepaniak discuss his origins in the firearms and hunting industry as well as his passion for the outdoors.

Adam is one of my favorite people hands down. Despite the fact that we occupy almost two entirely different spaces in the firearms world in terms of our favorite types of guns and gun disciplines, Adam always makes any event with the TFB crew a good time. Adam had the opportunity to test out some neat optics and weaponlights in Texas and hopefully, we’ll be hearing more about that soon either here at TFB or on AllOutdoor.com.

This week on the podcast we have our very own Adam Scepaniak. Adam has been with TFB for several years now and has contributed much to both TFB and our sister sites. Adam is an avid hunter and outdoorsman with decades of experience with hunting in the great white north of Minnesota.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast Episode #27: TFB Staff Writer Austin Rex

Length: 11 Minutes

Subjects: Creator of the “Hot Gat or Fudd Crap” series on TFB, Austin Rex discusses his tenure so far at The Firearm Blog

Although he is slightly battered from the experience, I think the highlight from our Texas trip for Austin was getting hands-on (or maybe face-on) with the rare Zastava M93 Black Arrow 50 BMG rifle.

Austin Rex is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Or maybe that is his beloved cat Bandit. Austin Rex is one of TFB’s most skilled long-range shooters and highly knowledgeable when it comes to some of his favorite subjects like reloading, ballistics, suppressors, combloc weaponry, and fighter jets. Austin currently calls Salt Lake City, Utah his home base and thus has access to some of the heavy hitters of the firearms industry like DeadAir Silencers, Christensen Arms, and SilencerCo.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast Episode #25: Tom R with The Firearm Blog

Length: 52 Minutes

Subjects: Former Editor in Chief of TFB, Tom R talks with current Editor in Chief Pete about his past career and his current adventures and jobs.

During our trip to Texas, Tom took the lead on several optics reviews from ATN Corp and even tested out some less-than-lethal self-defense tools on an actual person.

Tom R is a staple in the TFB Community. With his vast knowledge and dedicated research into survival and medical equipment and practices, Tom is often a valuable resource for both the firearms community who read TFB as well as the writers who look up to him for advice and experience. Today on the podcast Tom and Pete talk about firearms, long-range shooting, favorite firearms, Tom’s experience as a Navy Corpsman as well as Tom’s journey as a member of the TFB staff, and his transition to the Managing Editor of the curated survival and equipment wiki theprepared.com.

More TFB STaff Podcasts to Come

We’re a pretty tight-knit group over here at TFB despite the fact that we are often separated by thousands of miles. I’m really looking forward to meeting up with the TFB/TFBTV crew next at SHOT Show 2022 and getting some more staff podcasts recorded as well as more B-Side podcasts for you all to enjoy. Thanks as always for stopping by to read and listen to TFB. Stay safe out there folks.
