A recent article in Common Sense by Paulina Neuding highlights Sweden’s bombing epidemic that no one else in mainstream media seems to be talking about.
It’s a fascinating read, and there are definite parallels to what we’ve witnessed over here in the good old USA in recent years. Not with respect to bombings per se, but with respect to violence and crime as a whole, and the Left’s role in creating it.
Here’s an excerpt from the piece:
Since 2018, there have been almost 500 bombings—yes, bombings—in what is known as one of the most stable societies in the world. There’s not just a bombing problem. There are shootings, too. Sweden, which has a population of around 10 million, has the highest per-capita number of deadly shootings of 22 European countries. Forty-seven people have been shot dead so far this year, which, while far from American levels of gun homicide, is extreme for Europe. Other European countries have come to look at Sweden with horror. It may be shocking for Americans to learn that in Sweden—the land of IKEA, Spotify and Greta Thunberg—all of this is going on. Perhaps the reason you don’t know about it is because of the uncomfortable reality of how we got here...
How they got there is really the same story as how we got to where we are with our recent spike in gun homicides in many major Democratically-run cities across the county.
Liberal elites in power are at fault.
Why? Because they believe all of society, but especially the justice system, is systemically racist. As such, they are dead set on dismantling it by pulling back on traditional crime-fighting measures that put bad guys behind bars.
For example, they don’t want to increase the presence of law enforcement in high-crime neighborhoods, they want to defund the police. They don’t want rigorous prosecution of the most violent offenders, they want Soros-funded prosecutors who use kid gloves. They don’t want suspects who pose a threat detained, they want cashless bail that puts hardened criminals back out onto the streets.
It’s obvious these efforts exacerbate the situation but instead of reversing course when it’s clear they’re making matters worse, they either pretend the violence doesn’t exist — remember the “mostly peaceful protests” in Kenosha and the “summer of love” in CHOP? — or they double down on failed authoritarian policies, i.e. gun control, that infringe on the rights of the law-abiding but do nothing to help improve public safety.
Or, they do both at the same time, that is they play dumb and wage war on the freedoms of responsible citizens.
What we end up with is a complete SNAFU. Crime continues to skyrocket while citizens are rendered ever more helpless in the face of it due to, among other initiatives, widespread civil disarmament campaigns.
The only way out of this mess is for voters to realize that the Left’s race-obsessed, soft-on-crime, anti-liberty agenda is deeply misguided, and for voters to take action at the polls and vote them out of office in favor of more conservative-leaning politicians.
That appears to be what’s happening in Sweden. As Neuding observed:
The Sweden Democrats, or SD, is now the second-biggest party in parliament, and the biggest party of the right-wing bloc—gaining more votes than the more traditional center-right Moderate party. (It remains to be seen whether Ulf Kristersson, leader of the Moderates, can form a government with the support of SD, while sticking to his promise not to allow the party into the government coalition.). So how did Sweden’s famously liberal electorate usher in a party with roots on the extreme right? In a word: denial. In response to Sweden’s increasing problems with gang violence and social unrest in immigrant suburbs, the government’s strategy for many years was to deny how serious the situation had become. In the meantime, those people who noticed the problem—many of whom were working class—and spoke out about their diminished safety were accused of racism by leading politicians, the mainstream press, and the cultural elites. Only one political party did not: the SD. And in election after election, they gained more and more popular support. This is a story of what happens when the people who run things want to avoid confronting the consequences of their actions.
Hopefully, this November, here in America, we see a similar transition of power. A “red wave,” so to speak. Because the Liberal elites currently running the show must be held accountable.
